Melanin is a natural pigment that gives colour to skin. Exposure to sunlight, hormonal influences and ageing can cause an increase in melanin production and trigger hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation appears as dark circles around the eyes, dark patches and age spots (also known as sun spots) that make skin look uneven.
Eucerin Even Pigment Perfector Dark Circle Illuminating Eye Care combines powerful active ingredients that work in different ways to promote your skin’s radiance and reduce hyperpigmentation, and brightens and smooths your eye area at the source. The fresh and lightweight formula contains Thiamidol, an effective and patented ingredient that acts at the root cause of hyperpigmentation by reducing melanin production. Light reflecting pigments to brighten your eye area for an instantly fresh awake look. Hyaluronic Acid reduces puffiness and smoothens fine lines. Hyaluronic Acid is formed by skin cells and is part of the connective tissue of the skin. One of its key functions is to retain moisture, and it has the ability to bind in between 1,000 and 10,000 times its own weight in water (i.e. one gram binds between one and ten liters). As the sun’s rays are a key contributor to hyperpigmentation it’s important to wear an appropriate sun protection product, even on cloudy days. We recommend that, if you apply Eucerin Dark Circle Illuminating Eye Care in the morning, you follow it with Eucerin Anti-Pigment Day SPF 30 to help fade existing acne marks and protect skin from the sun, thereby reducing further sun-induced pigmentation issues. For intense sun exposure choose a higher protection factor from the Eucerin Sun Protection range.
